The current
line-up of Soul Takers saw the light in 2000, mainly created by Francesca
(guitars)and Federica (piano) Badalini. The genesis of the band is more
far-off and goes back to the mid-nineties when the two sisters met the
classics of heavy metal (Helloween, Savatage ...).
The first unit of the band had been formed in this period.
Francesca and Federica (today professional pianists) saw in the Heavy
Metal a natural evolution of Classical Music, far from the academic chains
that today entrap it and turn it into a close and elitist genre. Thus they
created a Heavy-Metal cover band and played live numerous times in the
north of Italy. The band arrives to a turning point when Federica at last
decided to give up the guitar and to introduce the piano as a firm instrument
in the songs of the band: piano melodies will become the peculiar trade-mark
of Soul Takers's sound.
The line-up of the band begun to stabilize when Mauro arrives(Previously
he was the drummer of an underground band called Dark Ages in which he
played with Andrea, the actual bass player of the band). In this phase
Soul Takers obtained favorable replies in some competitions and appeared
in various concerts in important clubs in Milan and its outskirts(Cross
Road, B52...)
In the beginning of 1999 Soul Takers lost their bassist Roberto Orlando
and their singer Dino Brentali (who today studies lyrical singing). The
arrival of Andrea (bass player already engaged with Winter Mist) puts
an end to the instability in the line-up because via Andrea the guys of
Soul Takers met Gianluigi Girardi (vocalist of Winter Mist) who is interested
in the project and joins the band.
With this new line-up Soul Takers played live several times in the most
important rock clubs of Milan (Rolling Stone, Indian's Saloon, Scarface...)
and in big musical reviews(Rinascita , ex-Palavobis).They record their
first promo-cd "Through the Silence of Words" in July 2002 at
Mezzanima Studios with Lorenzo Caperchi (Bluvertigo, Castronovo, Node...)
at the mixer and the partecipation of Laura Stella on the cello and Angapiemage
Persico (Davide Van De Sfross) on the violin. This work has been very
well received by the specialized press (reviews and webzines).
It has been transmitted by the program "Demo" on the national
channel of RadioUno and on Rock FM(one of the most important radio dedicated
to rock and metal). The musical proposal of Soul Takers is an original
fusion of Classical Music and Heavy Metal, trying to express introspective
and decadent athmospheres refusing the "commercial way".
In 2003 violin player Jari Pilati becames official member of Soul Takers.
