BIOGRAPHY |

Mausoleum,
a tomb of gloom rising from the ashes of Excoriate, a band formed by 4
friends, joined by the love for doom and played it in a Doom/Death style
with various influences ranging from My Dying Bride to Hypocrisy. Left
with nothing but one rehearsal track, Excoriate was soon led to its demise
during early 2002 due to major conflicts within the band and later the
biggest blow which was the departure of it's vocalist Ziad Khalil and
migration to Birmingham in England. Me, Ahmed Garoon who was back then
the bassist of Excoriate along with Sami Al-Ghoury who then was also serving
his duties on rhythem guitars with Excoriate, were seeking something more
into gloom, Depression and despair, and then decided to form a two-man
project under the name of "Dark is The Sun" inspired by the
sorrowful song "Dark is The Sunlight" by the Turkish heavy metal
band Pentagram. But soon it was all changed when we found Mausoleum, a
tomb filled with dull, gloomy despair has begun. Now the project has turned
into a full-time band where during mid 2003, on the hot summer season
of August, "Tunes from and old funeral" our first demo has been
quickly recorded, released and distributed in the local and international
underground. And now after almost a year since "Tunes from an old
funeral", Mausoleum have decided to build yet another floor of despair
in it's tomb of gloom and release a self expensed full-length with which
we are currently working on and should see the light of the day during
mid 2005.
Until then... Doom and let Doom, Mausoleum |
