After a first attempt
with their demo "Vastlands of Abomination", the emiratis are back
again in force with a well-produced EP, where the two tracks from the previous
demo have been re-recorded and remastered, which gives a better idea of what
this band can give.
Their style is rather rich and versatile. It includes death metal, hardcore,
thrash and heavy metal influences, with a few oriental tones and rather technical
and melodic solos.
"Sign of the Dead" is a heavy and powerful track; in an old school
death metal vein with some thrashy riffs and, by the end, a melodic solo with
oriental tones. The second track, "Vastlands of Abomination", sounds
like the previous one when it comes to structure and atmosphere, but you can
hear a little hardcore touch.
Third track "The Darkened" starts with a catchy riff and moves on
with oriental-flavoured rythmics and a little break at the middle that remind
me of the morbid atmosphere given off by some riffs from Death's "The Sound
Of Perseverence". Then it goes on!
The fourth track "Human Chaos" is the longest and, in my opinion,
the most repetitive song, thoug it has by the hand a little arpeggio that livens
up the bland taste caused by monotony.
The last track " Demolition " is, IMO, the best part of this EP. It
starts with a hardcore riff then it turns into old school death metal, influenced
by Suffocation and, at times, Cannibal Corpse, and of course, the solo at the
end.
As a conclusion, I'd say that this band is on the right track and that it would
be better if they tried to avoid useless repetitions, and to vary a bit the
structures of the tracks that make them sound a little predictable.
