In 99 the city
of Annaba greeted the 1st national rock festival known under the name of "CAP99"
that permitted me to discover this band from the east of Algeria who impressed
us by the capacity of the singer and the quality of its musicians.
This demo was recorded in 2001 in Constantine with limited means , cause in
Algerian it's not easy (at all) to find a studio that suit this style of music. From
what we notice the principal weakness of this album that is the lack of power
and that doesn't reflect the title of this demo «Harb» which means
war in Arabic.
We will keep a heavy trash ambience of the 80's end and beginning 90's especially
some Metallica's black album influences that we feel in the title «Nothing»
adding some suspicions of oriental music on «Harb» and «Agony»And
notably the title "nhar mouti" (my dying day) that mises a little
bit originality and makes us think of Ozzy's "planet caravan" (Pantera's
version).Without forgetting "Niab eddib" (fangs of the wolf) which
is in my point of view the most successful track . I think that the band should
head toward that spirit of composition adding a dose of cutting riffs.the demo
album ends with «Don't forget» that is monotonous enough and a little
bit (too) soft
to take place in this opus.
In summary it is a good initiative to encourage and some blast beats wouldn't
be refused.
