Interview
of Martin Belobrad the Label Manager of Forensick Music an underground
Death Metal label from Slovakia :"Yes,
it is not very easy job to run label. We use to invest a lot of money...we
have to pay royalities to our bands, pay for postage when we send promos,
advertising... it is really a lot."
How did
it occur to you to start your own label?
I started with Forensick Music when I was out from my previous label I
worked - Erebos Productions. I got into some personal troubles with other
2 guys from Erebos so I decided to start my own one. It was back in Summer
2001
How did
you come up with the name Forensick Music?
I don´t remember, but I was probably inspired by name of Disgorge
"Forensick" album. Yes, I think it was main inspiration
Is it
hard to release CDs yourselves. How much do you invest?
Yes, it is not very easy job to run label. We use to invest a lot of money,
but I don´t know exact numbers. Besides CDs we have to pay royalities
to our bands, pay for postage when we send promos, advertising... it is
really a lot.
Have you
been approached by a big label for a future cooperation, or better distribution?
We are starting to work with Century Media for US and European distribution,
so we will see if it would be better or not... I hope yes.
Would
you consider anyone releasing CDRs, a label? What and how would you define
a true label ?
Hmm, I dont know... now it is almost same to release CDr and manufactured
CD-R. So I dont know why do people do it? I am not big fan of CD-R.
Tell us
about some of your bands. How many are on the label?
We have 3 bands active on Krv Records, our sublabel-Thalarion, Infer,
Ancestral VOlkhves and other bands are signed to Forensick music-Sanatorium,
Soils of Fate, Sordid, Perversity, Deflorace, Typhoid... maybe in the
future it will be changed again, who knows?
If
a band wanted to send you their stuff, give us the details how it works?
And who should not contact you?
We need to send music on CD-R (not mp3 by email) with short bio.... if
i like their music k, we can speak about releasing... but at the moment
we have quite al ot of bands and we don´t need any new one.
Can you
explain us what is KRV records?
It is our sublabel as Forensick Music is mostly dedicated to death metal.
Krv records is for black metal mainly
We know
that you are playing in one of the most famous death metal band from Slovakia
called SANATORIUM, can u tell us more?
Yes, I am singer in Sanatorium. I was playing bass some years ago, but
now I do only "vocals". We play very extreme brutal death metal.
What about
the Metal scene in your country? Can you recommend us some bands?
Metal is very underground in Slovakia, there is a lot of average bands
playing and sounding same... there are some good acts I saw... Diftery,
Craniotomy, Eternal Bleeding
When do
you think in Slovakia will appear major label, which will organize tours,
interviews in big magazines,
so will do big promotion for bands?
No, I don´t think so... WE are too small country and our economic
situation is pretty fucked up... I wish I could do that :-))) But my financial
resources are very limited-
Your age?
Your job? Your hobbies? The music you listen to?
I am 29. I do label only as it takes all my time. My hobbies? Skiing,
extreme mount biking, smoking weed/hash, fucking nice bitches and kung-fu
What
are the latest news from the Forensick office?
I am just moving so my life is pretty messed, but address will remain
same... I am just moving to bigger office. We are doing now soem small
weekend tour for Sanatorium in Spriang 2005 in Slovakia and mostly all
Forensick bands will play on some of the shows...
