An exclusive interview of Matt K. the bass and vocals of Esodic a Thrash metal band from jordan talking about what happen in his country : "The thing in Jordan was weird!! It was by sudden. Everything was cool until it happened. Some kids the elder one of them is almost 15 or 16 are into metallica and new wave of metal, started to do some bad things. ...Those kids are morons related Nothing to real metal, I've been forced to leave metal. To leave the band."

How and when did Esodic form?
Well Esodic has been Formed by Noor I. , the guitars of the band in the year 2000. he started this Bands Project at his Uni with the ex drummer of the band Firas k. as they both agreed to form a thrash metal band somehow to play slayers covers and other thrash metal bands .. So as they started to jam around, both were looking' for rest of members... the band named as Epidemic the first 4 weeks... then Purgatory till we came up with ESODIC

Tell us how you start play and why you like thrash metal?
1997 I was a member of a gothic metal band... TUMULT, I used to be Vox of the band... Never thought that someday I would be a bassist or something. I always hated bass guitar he he But with ESODIC we went through certain circumstances that forced me to be the bassist of the band .. And I guess am doin' Well , My best thrash metal band ever is KREATOR .some German friend guided to this band that was ages ago . Glad for being a Thrash metal Head banger

How would you describe Esodic music?
Our music is something came out to describe the lyrics in a Logical way, we read the lyrics each time we meet more than 100 times to feel it ..To picture every single letter of it, then we paint the right tune on each word of the lyrics, we call it our own kind of art. Team work, every one of us comes up with an idea which suits the song, as for working the songs out. We are all musicians.. Ibraheem can do the drums and guitars .Marwan is also can do the drums and guitars. Me and noor as Bassists and guitars. It's just our Brotherhood sense within the band

What are your lyrics about?
Lyrics are About Everything in this world I just write what I feel it has to be written , Life & death , Misery and pains of our youth . Our raped arab countries , cheaters and friends which has always something common between them .. About You and me .and someday maybe More.. But not yet, hehe

Esodic, what the meaning of it?
ESODIC.. After we found out that Purgatory is already exists with some other 3 bands, we start searching a suitable name or NICK for the band ..I got ESODIC out of some Old medical book ..it means The transporter of actions from outside effecting directly the center .something like a poisoned arrow .

Did you play with any band before Esodic?
I played with only one band before Esodic ..it was Tumult .. But Esodic is my real thing. Infract its a dream came true, thanx for Marwan , ibraheem, and noor .

Give us some info about your band members?
The guys are creative in a weird way. marwan, ibraheem and noor . They are just like brothers for me.. When we play metal everyone knows exactly what the others next step would be just before spelling it out. I get the lyrics.. marwan and noor compose them musically and the Ibraheem get the hard job after all through rehearses to suit the drums on with the music , simply . They are the best for me .Hail ESODIC

Tell us about your releases "COVERELESS THRUTH"?
the idea of this demo album exists after we all got sick of covers and imitates other well known bands , so we had to do something that has to take place , something we all wanted . After all, I got the lyrics of (Dawn of victory and Blindfate-turab ) which both made Coverless truth demo . We started out our project in August 2002. It was fun and something I'll never forget we were happy that we are doing something of our own.

Dawn of victory how did you got the idea of it?
Hummm well its all about Palestine our raped holy land and the divinity of the place, blood of innocent martyrs.. There must be something I can do. I saw it all on TV!!!! it was like am burning from inside , these things above mentioned were mixed with my Kurdish roots , I came up with the idea of NEW AGE OF HETTEEN the battle which the leader salah eddeen al ayyoubi triumphed and kicked crusaders out like rats .but you know . Nowadays we are passing through hard times (about metal stuff) I had to change the title of the song to be. Dawn of Victory .which we all pray for mighty god above that it has to be SOON.....

How did you record your cd?
With money!! Heheh. Well we got the money and we have chosen a good studio which is the best in Amman for metal recording , that even the sound technician is a metal head and used to be a band member . It went all fine, we remained there for almost 8 days till we got the Cd out under the sun..

What are you plans for the future? Any new release ready? Any gig? Or just working with new material?
No gigs nowadays in Jordan and even though! We agreed not to perform any. The main idea since we met was to do some real thrash metal and to release it outta Jordan. Local metal music is Dead..It has No future and wont ever.. We have a many originals to be recorded but we just need the right time and also some extra money.. I cant deny that I sold my bass guitar getting extra money to recorded the past two songs ...

How many concert in Jordan your band was performed?
bleh !!!! hehe it was Only two concerts Ovens On which I never called a concert . It was nothing but bullshit and the sound effects was like some Farts in the air and many rappers were around, which got me insane like shit!! The Other one was at Skating Palace. We Performed a good concert with Oath To Vanquish from Lebanon.. It was enough cool. We did great and since that time. We are known and one of the best bands..

What you cover in that concert?
We played good Covers for great bands. Which No thrash metal band in Jordan could play them in such harmony. Seasons in the abyss and hell waits for slayer. Extreme Aggression for Kreator .Vice of killing for Sodom and the last one was Arise for sepultura . It was just amazing.. And guys headbanged like hell .

How's the metal in Jordan and the bands there?
Metal over here is something great ... we have real rockers and Old ones.. The sense in Jordan is perfect. And I adore many bangers, metal headbangers are everywhere but metal shitBangers are the most.. We call them in Jordan 6a36ajeyeh. lol anyway . Guess nowadays metal is dying .in short words..Prevented anything related to metal or rock music ...... whish is too bad and it makes me sad like hell..

From 1990 till 2000 the metal was great in Jordan tell us about this period?
That period was the Golden one.. Many concerts. Real metal heads..Real talents .great bands appeared and performed so many gigs.. The guys those days were the best. It was just amazing' to meet some metal head in the street that ya don't know. Starts to chat about rock and bands, gigs here and there, we were all like brothers. Infarct real brothers. No cheatin. Stabs in the back .we were respecting' each other . Supporting local bands .I guess that's why that era had no problems and was the best .I remember those amazing bands that will be always in my memory for ever as the best that ever Jordan had.. MegaPower .hauntedcottage..X ..Darkcide Tyranny... Zahreth .. Scarecrow and many others. We supported our local metal bands like hell. Went to every concert.
I think you know about the problem that happened with our brothers in Morocco, tell us about the problem in Jordan and what happened with you?
Am sorry about what happened to our brothers in Morocco, we all faced the same shits. The thing in Jordan was weird!! It was by sudden. Everything was cool until it happened. Some kids the elder one of them is almost 15 or 16 are into metallica and new wave of metal, started to do some bad things. Weeds and so.. Related nothing to metal and rock music senses. It was just individuals' behaviors that affected us all. And got us into shits and troubles.. we got invited almost everyday .. Well am not wondering were did they got some dudes names and numbers info. You know. Those kids are morons related Nothing to real metal, I've been forced to leave metal. To leave the band. To Cut my hair. That am growing it since 3 years. And goatee that am havin it since 7 years.. I DID.. Just to get some peace of mind. But I still didn't get it . I even got sick of metal it self as an issue!! Left the band for a while.. They got me psycho. It aint about long hair or goatee you know!! Hair grows.. But it has nothing to do with bad deeds!! It's just freedom. Those kids are the morons to be blamed not us. It's just a matter of freedom..

Most of the bands in Arabian countries played one or two years and then they stopped playing, what you think?
I think its just the sense inside. As ya know! Some are nothing but imitators or actors and some others was born to be metal heads.. Is also about lack of support. Lack of local encouragements. Even families!! They wont understand what kind of music you play! It's just forbidden .troubles with the government, our Arabic communities also built walls against metal heads like we are some kind of aliens. These are just few Problems of what bands faced which got them to split over..

How you see the metal scenes in Arabic countries at this time?
This time is the worst damn it!! New wave is killing us!! Maybe some good news in Lebanon or Morocco .Algeria, but other Arabian countries has Nothing to do with metal anymore. Some bands Projects appears here and there!! But so what!! It's futureless and just into covers stuff. Even originals.. What would it be!! Most of it would be alternative or industrial. Rap metal and new shits. And the weird thing is these new types of metal every day !!! INDUSTRIAL GOTH !!!! heheh now this is lame !!

As you take a look at today's metal bands, what you see?
International bands are worthy. I can say Nothing..Every one of them has his own chance. Domestically, our bands just need some support and a good chances.. And they can even better than international bands

What's your favorite album, which band?
Well.. Extreme Aggression for Kreator and Serpents of the light for Deicide.. Are my best ever..

Is there any band you would like to play as support act?
Well I wish to play with Kreator they are just amazing and kings of thrash metal. Hope that someday Esodic will be able to perform an international gig with kreator. And also Litham from Algeria they are just amazing. And Hummm KillerZone .. My best arabian dudes.. Both bands rules

Message for Arabian underground?
We are all are Underground bands.. Just keep the good job and never mind the troubles, things will be fine someday soon. Rock On.. Metal rules the world .long life rock&roll .. And as Old metal heads of 60s and 70s used to shout while performing.. POWER TO PEOPLE .hehe
