The history
of Emancer goes back as long as to 1996, when three youngsters (Mithrin,
Gorbag and X) from a small village in Sogn in the western part of Norway
started playing in a band together. The band was called Utumno, and released
two demos (in 97 and 98) of grim and cold Black Metal on Greek underground
label Demonion Productions.
After the demos, the band made a full-length album and changed names to
Emancer. After a series of delays and little activity within the band,
the album called "Utopian Illusions" was finally released on
American label Extremist Records in 2001.
During the delay of the first album release, Mithrin wrote Emancer album
number two, "The Human Experiment", and in the summer of 2002,
this album was completed. Guitarist X had left the band, so Emancer was
now a two-man project. This album was released on another American label,
Black Owl Records, in December 2002, and received fantastic reviews from
all over the world.
In 2003 Emancer signed on British label Golden Lake Productions for the
release of the third full-length album. The album, "Invisible",
was released in February 2004.
