Interview of Jerome Casseri the Label Manager of Diamond Productions an underground Death Metal label from France :"Yes D.P is an underground label, definition? It's thinking and working for quality not for profitability".

Can you present us diamond production by a little history and why having chosen that name?
Diamond Prod. Exist since 2002; I've created this label to help bands in releasing their products, and to be known. I'm a fan of Mercyful Fate and their singer King Diamond (from what I've chosen the label's name)

Apparently you're alone in D.P, if yes tell us why?
Because I don't have the means to take another one, and I think that working alone is better!

Can we consider D.P as an underground label? And what's your definition of the underground?
Yes D.P is an underground label, definition? It's thinking and working for quality not for profitability.

What about the promotion and distribution of your releases?
For the distribution I'm in touch with distributors from many countries, and for the promotion I keep 500 cds for mags and webzines.

Are the bands satisfied?
You've got to ask them

What are the conditions for a band to be signed with you?
I must appreciate what they do, it also must be Death Metal and overall, they must be hungry of glory. Being motivated is the most important thing.

Did you already think to sign (in the future) with Arab bands? And can you tell us about your knowledge for Metal bands in Arabian world?
No difference for D.P as soon as I receive a good Arabian death band I dive (I only have to be in a signing period, and it's not the case). I know some (known from your webzine) but I don't have an idea about the rest.

In January 22nd, 23rd 2003 a French band signed with D.P (CARNAL LUST) might have a gig in Algiers with LITHAM but didn't. Can you tell us what happened? And would you be ready to retry such an experience?
Well we started acting with a little delay, and the Algerian council used to ask for 1000 things, there was a problem each day! Then the council has fixed an appointment with Carnal Lust for the visa but unfortunately it was not the whole of the band who could come that day, but we'll try again, isn't it Redouane ??

Do you run other activities than your label?
Of course I'm Building contractor With 8 persons (that's what I'm living from …)

I'm 33 years old. Travels, gigs,… only Metal from Angel Corpse to Yattering passing by Judas Priest, Ozzy, Morbid Angel, Possessed, Carcass, Avulsed, Agressor, Mercyful Fate, King Diamond,…

Have you already played in a Metal band? And how did you discover this kind of music?
I played in some bands Cock Roachs, Outburst, Catacomb…I've discovered Metal music thanks to a program on RMC Rock Radio (bands like Maide, Girl, Def Leppard, Ozzy, Bijou, Trust…

D.P is a French label. Few years ago, French metal scene could earn its place with bands like Misanthrope, Carcariass, Gurkkhas, Anorexia Nervosa… and many others. Can you tell us more?
Well it is a prolific scene, with good and bad bands. I've known the beginning with ADX, Killer, Vulcain, and I pay particulary attention to new stuffs, the best ones at this moment are: Gojira, Act of God, Kabbal, Belef, Vorkeist, Zubrowska…and many others.

What are the next releases on D.P?
Disinfect a German brutal death band! And I think it's going to be for January.
