ALGOL:
ALGOL was founded in February of 1998 by vocalist / guitarist Dalkiel
and bass player Sarnath. Early members included guitarist Diabolus and
drummer Kadath who both featured on ALGOL’s opening demo, the November
1998 session ‘Enshroud Us In Darkness’. By May of 1999 Sazok
had replaced Kadath and later the same year Diabolus was in turn usurped
by Mictian. With this revised line up ALGOL once more entered the studio
to cut the ‘Forgotten Paths’ tape, released in November 1999.
The erstwhile duo of Diabolus and Kadath would duly forge UMBRA WITHIN.
The band enlisted the services of keyboard player Cthulu as they signed
to the Italian Twelfth Planet label for debut album ‘Gorgonus Aura’.
Members of ALGOL pursue an array of side projects. Dalkiel also presents
himself as vocalist for Viking Metal band VOR VEGR and has another extracurricular
endeavour in union with former DIVINE MISERY guitarist Ryan Chilcote billed
as FOREVER MOURNING. Both Dalkiel and Sarnath are also members of ISA.
In September of 2002 both guitarists Arawn and Dalkiel, whilst maintaining
their position in ALGOL, would enrol with the infamous New Jersey Death
Metal band ENGORGE. Paragon Records issued a split album in 2004 entitled
'Whispers From An Empty Room', shared with SHROUD OF DESPONDENCY.
SHROUD
OF DESPONDENCY:
Solo Black Metal venture of one Rory Heikilla, previously a member of
DOMAIN MALEVOLENCE. In this new guise SHROUD OF DESPONDENCY debuted in
2000 with the 'Of Nightfalls Silence' demo tape. The debut 2002 album
'For Eternity Brings No Hope' would be the first release from Bindrune
Recordings, a division of Worm Gear magazine. A limited edition of just
20 would be made available including a CDR bonus disc of the 'Of Nightfalls
Silence' demo.
SHROUD OF DESPONDENCY issued a split album in 2004 'Whispers From An Empty
Room' through Paragon Records shared with ALGOL.
